Penguins have found perfect winger for Evgeni Malkin

The Pittsburgh Penguins second line seemingly found the perfect linemate to compliment Evgeni Malkin.

With the way the Penguins have been playing, especially Sidney Crosby playing like he is in his mid-20's and Alex Nedeljkovic stopping most pucks, the Penguins have found themselves close to a playoff spot.

In addition to Crosby carrying the team offensively, Evgeni Malkin has also performed very well with 4 goals and 2 assists over the last 5 games.




One key factor that has helped in Malkin's resurgence is forward Michael Bunting. Bunting has 9 points (3G, 6A) in 14 games since joining the Penguins but has helped in other ways. His physical presence in front of the net and board play has helped to generate this offensive.

According to Natural Stattrick, Malkin and Bunting are converting on 20% of their high danger chances. Without Bunting, Malkin was converting on a 7% level.

The Penguins will need Bunting to continue to perform if the team wants to continue into the post season. And with a game against the Capitals on deck for tonight, everyone will need to contribute.
