Line Brawl to start the game between Rangers and Devils

The New York Rangers and New Jersey Devils rivalry is alive and well. Tonight off the opening draw chaos broke loose and there was a line brawl. Even the coaches would end up getting involved.

Since the new year the New York Rangers have been known for their physical style and rough game. Much of this is due to the call up of Matt Rempe. Tonight the Rangers and neighboring rival Devils went at one another immediately.







Matt Rempe and Kurtis MacDermid opened the game and the chaos only increased from there. Eventually, even the coaches for each team Peter Laviolette and Travis Green would get into an argument.



After the players were separated the referees had to sort out the mess and hand out penalties. As they did that Devils reporter Amanda Stein took note of all the gloves and sticks on the ice.



Eventually, the penalties would be given out and 8 separate players would be ejected from the game.



This would not stop after the first fight, however. Just a few minutes later Will Cuylle and Dawson Mercer would also get into it with one another.



This game certainly has a playoff atmosphere. Between all of the fighting, the New York Rangers did find time to score a goal. Mika Zibanejad put the Rangers up 1-0 and thats where things stand now halfway through the first period.
