Captain Sidney Crosby is still showing the world why he is the best player in the game as he is willing the team into a chance at the playoffs.

Crosby started the season on a MVP pace for the Penguins. Then, around the trade deadline something happened. There was a span of time where in 10 games he had just 4 assists and no goals. Everyone wrote him off as just giving up or getting tired.

In the last 6 games, Crosby has gotten back to his MVP play. In fact, he is playing the best hockey of his career. He has 15 points in his last 6 games. The Pens are 4-0-2 in that span. He is carrying this team and willing them into the playoffs. The last time Sid was on a pace like this, it was 2013.

Sidney Crosby is now 36 years old. His career was already hall of fame worthy well before this season. But he has seemed to find another gear since the March trade deadline.

This play does not go unnoticed in the league or with his teammates. In the last 5 games, Bryan Rust has also increased his production. Rust has four goals and four assists when it was needed most. Even Malkin has produced 4 goals with 2 assists over the last five.

Crosby's play is contagious. And the team seems to be rallying around his lead. If the Penguins are able to win against the Capitals tomorrow night, their playoff changes will increase from 15.1% to almost 24%. That is a long way from the barely there percentage just a couple of weeks ago.
