Team Canada to recruit Sidney Crosby for upcoming World Championships

The upcoming World Championships are bound to be intriguing, and with Connor Bedard likely for Team Canada, they are now targeting Sidney Crosby too.

Some may have believed that Sidney Crosby represented Team Canada for the last time, with the NHL not taking part in Olympic competition for some time, but with the league's return to hockey's biggest international stage, the path has opened for 87 to return. Now, it may come sooner than anyone expected, as Team Canada have confirmed they will reach out to Crosby ahead of the 2024 IIHF World Championship if/when the Pittsburgh Penguins are eliminated from playoff contention this season.





Standout rookie Connor Bedard is also expected to join Team Canada, along with talented young forward Mason MacTavish, and with the opportunity to mentor the future of Team Canada, this may be the perfect opportunity for Crosby to continue getting major reps in ahead of next season and the 2026 Olympic Games. The World Championship will take place from May 10-26 in Czechia, and after Canada took home gold last year led by Calgary's Mackenzie Weegar, having this type of star power in 2024 would be a major boost.

So much of the roster will depend on the Stanley Cup Playoffs, but if the team can put together a squad led by Crosby, Bedard, MacTavish and other names at that level, there's no doubting that Team Canada should be in line for title No. 29 in 2024.
