Analytics Reveal How Poor the Penguins have Played

The popular X user JFresh posted a graphic that shows just how poor the Penguins have been at finishing.

39 fewer goals than expected for the Penguins this season.

That's more than 2x worse than the 30th-ranked team in the NHL.

Incredible, really.

In layman's terms this means that the team should have scored 39 more goals than they actually did. That is horrendous and it shows that the Penguins have been terrible at finishing or actually putting the puck in the net.

Being 32nd in the league in any stat is unacceptable, but this one is a really bad look.

Advanced analytics like these can help to paint a picture on what has been going wrong with the Penguins season. It's not just scoring, but it's definitely one of the issues at play.
