It hasn't been the easiest week for Penguins nation after writing themselves out of contention with the Jake Guentzel trade sending him to the Carolina Hurricanes and their losing ways. The next month of the season will be a huge test of adversity for the defeated Penguins, and it started today with their matchup versus the Edmonton Oilers.

Ludvig drops the gloves with Warren Foegele

During the match, things got heated between the Penguins and the Oilers after Warren Foegele gave a vicious hit to a Penguins forward, leading Penguins rookie John Ludvig to step up and defend his fellow teammate by dropping the gloves with Foegele.

Although, in hindsight it doesn't seem like such a big deal, but it shows that the Penguins still have belief in one another and have some sort of fierce fight in them. Ludvig showed adversity and keeps on winning the hearts of Penguins fans across the world. It is important for moments like these to show that the Pens still want to compete and show teams that they may be out, but they won't stop fighting. Culture remains super important even when deemed out of the playoffs.

The Penguins ended up falling 4-0 to the Oilers.
