At the last trade deadline, Kyle Dubas made a controversial decision by trading Guentzel to the Carolina Hurricanes in return for Vasily Ponomarev Ville Koivunen, the rights to forward Cruz Lucius and conditional first-round and fourth-round picks in the 2024 NHL Draft.

Only eight games in, Bunting already showed why Dubas went after him at the deadline. He scored six points in eight games, and made a difference every night.

He plays a key role in the powerplay, which has struggled all year long. He also brings a physical presence in front of the net and a lot of determination on the ice.
