GM Kyle Dubas responds to Jake Guentzel's comments
After the Penguins met with Jake Guentzel for the first time since joining his new team, Jake Guentzel made some comments directed towards Kyle Dubas.
Guentzel stated that he wanted to stay in Pittsburgh and the team had other ideas, and this was certainly the way that it appeared from an outside perspective.Naturally, fans were upset to hear Guentzel say this as they would have loved him to remain in Pittsburgh.

«He's entitled to his opinion, especially in this market, to give his opinion. What I would say is that going into this year, I hoped that everything would go to the most optimistic viewpoint, we would be a contending team, and that would dictate decision-making differently than it did. I'm sorry that it ended up being Jake as the one whose contract was up at that time that's how he feels about it.
He's entitled to feel how he feels, and I don't take umbrage at all.»
Although I don't believe that Guentzel is going to return in free agency as much as I would love him to, exchanges like these make things seem even less likely.
Very professional response from Kyle Dubas, and it was great to see him sharing his thoughts.
However I think it was clear that the matter was strictly business, and not personal so I'm not sure if this answer really gives us much.
