The Penguins Bottom 6 Continued Struggles

As of late the Penguins have played well and looked very solid against some high powered teams. However, there still has been concerns with the Penguins forward core beyond the top 6. Luckily, Kyle Dubas and the Pittsburgh Penguins have multiple options with Matt Nieto and Reilly Smith out of commission for an extended amount of time.

Filling in the Holes on Forward

The first option that the Penguins will likely choose to roll with Colin White to fill in on the third line for the upcoming road trip against Vegas and Arizona. White has significant NHL experience and just recently made his Pittsburgh Penguins debut.

Besides Colin White, there are two forwards in the AHL who are currently playing well and may be recalled to act as reinforcements for the somewhat battered Penguins forward group. Both Samuel Poulin and Jesse Puljujarvi have looked great in Wilkes Barre as of late and have both been finding the back of the net.

Both of these players are former first round picks who could potentially make the jump up and make a difference on the Penguins bottom 6. As we come down the stretch in a difficult division, things like depth scoring will be crucial for the Penguins.

More details to follow.
