Penguins to Target Forward from San Jose to Improve depth

The Pittsburgh Penguins have one goal in mind this season, and it is making the playoffs. Regardless on whether they end up shipping Jake Guentzel or keeping him, their eyes are set on the postseason after missing the playoffs last season for the first time since 2005-2006.

Dubas looking for Guentzel replacement?

Penguins GM Kyle Dubas is keeping his tabs open on every potential scenerio. The former Leafs GM has a plan if Jake Guentzel doesn't stay in Pittsburgh or even if he does, Dubas wants to improve their top 9 depth. It seems like the San Jose Sharks can be a way of business for the Penguins as they made Alexander Barabanov available for trade.

Barabanov, has 8 points in 25 games this season. On a down year it is important to mention where the Sharks sit in the league standings, 32nd. Last year the Russian Forward has 47 points in 68 games. The Penguins would add a solid reinforcement for the inconsistent second power play unit.

Things have to start moving on the Penguins front

The Penguins need some sort of clarity when it comes to their asset management. For the last month, the Pens have been the talk of the media regarding the Jake Guentzel situation and his future contract or if they are trading him. Once all that is figured out, we will finally see other movement regarding the Penguins.
