The Department of Player Safety made a decision regarding Michael McCarron's hit on Vancouver Canucks' goalie Casey DeSmith.

In game 3 of the Predators Vs. Canucks series, McCarron took down the Canucks' goalie Casey DeSmith behind his net, with a dangerous hit.

If you missed it, here's a video of the incident:

Earlier today, the NHL announced that the DoPS reached an official verdict about the hit.

McCarron will need to pay a $2,000 fine for goalie interference, per the NHL's official statement:

"Nashville's Michael McCarron has been fined $2,000 for goalie interference on Vancouver's Casey DeSmith."

Fortunately for the Canucks, DeSmith managed to stay in the game and delivered an amazing performance, stopping 30 of the 31 shots fired at him.

With Vancouver's star goalie Thatcher Demko out with an undisclosed injury, the team relies a lot on DeSmith. If he had been injured, it could've been devastating for the Canucks' hope to reach the Stanley Cup Finals.

The Canucks will look to earn their third win of the series tomorrow, as the puck drops in Nashville for game four.

Do you think the Department of Player Safety made the right call by handing out a $2,000 fine to Michael McCarron for his hit on Casey DeSmith?
