Nashville Predators forward Michael McCarron got away with a questionable play tonight after he hit former Penguin and Canucks goaltender Casey DeSmith. There was no call on the play, but luckily, DeSmith was fine to stay in the game.

The hit came on a standard dump and chase play by the Predators. After Nashville rimmed the puck around the boards. DeSmith took the opportunity to come out of the net and cut it off. This proved to be costly, as he ended up in the huge collision with McCarron.

Some fans thought that it was a vicious and intentionally dangerous play to attempt to take out the goalie. If DeSmith would leave the game for any reason the Canucks would be in an extremely tough situation, down to their third netminder.

I mean his stick is tied up and DeSmith is out of his crease. You take risks leaving the net. It was scary and I'm glad he's okay, but in no way was that an intent to injure.

Considering the situation, DeSmith might want to consider playing the rest of the series a bit more conservatively. After all, the Canucks are relying on him to be their starter with Thatcher Demko out.

Desmith has to have his head up here

While his regular season numbers were quite pedestrian, DeSmith has been excellent in game three, shutting down the Predators.

DESMITH REFLEXES 📈📈📈

The team in front of DeSmith deserves a lot of credit to though, as they have blocked shots and closed down plays, giving their netminder a chance to make every save. They might have to play the rest of the series like this if they want to advance to the second round.
