Pittsburgh Penguins assistant coach Ty Hennes will be a member of Team USA rep at the IIHF World Championship running from May 10-26 in Prague and Ostrava, Czechia.

With the long off-season many Penguins have the opportunity to represent their team at the World Championship. Many have not committed yet, but one coaching staff member has, Ty Hennes.

Hennes was a more recent addition to the Penguins team as an assistant coach signed in the 2022-23 season. Prior to being an assistant, Hennes, 43, was the team skating and skills development coach, working especially with prospects for the previous 4 years. Ron Hextall was the GM at the time when he promoted Hennes to an assistant coaching role.

Hextall said to DK Sports Pittsburgh when promoting Hennes.

He has been seen numerous times on the ice during practice for drills and morning skates with the team.

This will be Hennes first time representing the United States on an international stage. He will be joining Detroit Red Wings head coach Derek Lalonde to lead Team USA.

Congratulations Ty Hennes on joining Team USA at the World Championship!
