The Pittsburgh Penguins are all of a sudden back in the playoff hunt, and with his recent play, Sidney Crosby is now worthy of MVP consideration.

After moving Jake Guentzel at the trade deadline,no one would have blamed Penguins fans for looking ahead to the 2024 NHL Draft order, but in a surprising turn of events, they now find themselves within striking distance of a playoff spot. While there's been many factors in their recent success, you can't look past the play of captain Sidney Crosby, who has tallied an incredible 15 points in his last six games.

Sid might not be a kid anymore, but he's not slowing down anytime soon!

Crosby's season total now gets up to 92 points, and while he's far behind the incredible trio of Nikita Kucherov, Nathan MacKinnon and Connor McDavid, his play has certainly looked like that of an MVP as of late. According to TSN's Craig Button however, Crosby is the perfect example of what an MVP is in the NHL, and his recent play has shown that.

"When you think about what Sidney Crosby could potentially do," Button said. "Dragging the Pittsburgh Penguins into the playoffs. That, to me, is what an MVP does."

Ultimately, it's highly unlikely that even if the Penguins somehow claw their way into the playoffs, Crosby is given MVP, but at 36-years of age to still be playing like this, he certainly warrants some votes, as he continues to stamp himself as the greatest player of this past generation.
