The Pittsburgh Penguins are looking to do some overhaul of the team this off season, so it is no surprise that they are linked to some big rumors.

The Penguins fully expect to re-sign Sidney Crosby this off-season but are continuing to look to make the team better. That could include adding an offensive firepower like Patrik Laine.

The rumored deal includes Columbus receiving Reilly Smith, Kasper Björkqvist, Filip Hallander and a 2026 draft pick for Patrik Laine.

Conversations about this rumor have started already on X.

Laine is a known sniper that can help the Penguins Powerplay unit, as well as a forward who can play along side Sidney Crosby. With the Columbus Blue Jackets in a rebuild mode, adding some of the younger players that Pittsburgh could be willing to part with and Smith, a veteran who's contract will be up after the 2024-25 season, could be a good addition to the Blue Jackets.

Since moving to the Blue Jackets from Winnipeg during the 2020-21 season, Laine has not produced as well as thought. His +/- rate is -58, and has only 64 goals since joining Columbus. His best year was with Winnipeg in 2017-18, where in 82 games he scored 44 goals and added 26 assists for a 70 point season.

It would be an intriguing deal for the Penguins and could potentially benefit both teams.
