Pittsburgh Penguins Evgeni Malkin has worked with his 'I'm Score for Kids' initiative since the 2022-23 season to team up with McDonald's for local charities

Since the initiative started, Malkin has donated $710 for each point he scores during the regular season. This year, that donation total was $47,750. The fast food chain McDonalds matches that total bringing the full donation to $95,140.

The donation will go to the Ronald McDonald House Charities. Between the two seasons that Malkin has been involved, he has donated a total of $106.680 (last season he scored 83 points, for a total of $58,930).

«We are incredibly grateful to have this support,» said Eleanor Reigel, CEO of Ronald McDonald house Charities of Pittsburgh and Morgantown. «The generosity that is shared through this program brings families much-needed comfort and support when they are far from home with their sick child.»

The Ronald McDonald House is a charity that gives families a home to stay in while their children have medical care.

'I'm score for kids' developed from a phrase Malkin used while learning English and playing hockey in Pittsburgh about 10 years ago in an interview. The phrase caught fire and is still referenced to this day by fans.

In total, Malkin's campaign has raised $213,000 for the charity.
