Penguins recall top prospect Sam Poulin from Wilkes Barre it was reported by the Pittsburgh Penguins X account in a post.

Poulin could be a good addition to the team and get some time at the NHL level.

Sam Poulin could be making his start today for the Penguins. Forward Noel Acciari was added to the injured reserves. Poulin at 23-years-old has 13 goals and 14 assists in 36 appearances with Wilkes-Barre/Scranton this season.

Poulin sat out much of the 2022-23 campaign to address his mental health. That was the last time he was called up to Pittsburgh.

When asked about what it would mean to get recalled again to Pittsburgh, Poulin said:

Crosby was asked about Poulin getting called up to play. The captain had this to say:

"Just that he's playing and enjoying it, back to doing what he loves, I think that's the most important thing - and the fact that he's been called up is just a product of that. I think the main thing is just that he's happy, and it seems like that's the case."

It was previously reported that Mike Sullivan acknowledged Sam Poulin as having a great year for the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins

Today, Sullivan also had this to say about the call up:

"Sam deserves a lot of credit for everything he's gone through - just his persistence and perseverance in trying to continue to grow as a player and a person... It is a reward for his efforts. He deserves a lot of credit."

Let's hope that Poulin is able to infuse some of that youth movement that Kyle Dubas was looking to get into the lineup for the Penguins.

The Penguins take on the Carolina Hurricanes tonight at PPG Paints Arena. Puck drop set for 7pm EST.
