Former Pittsburgh Penguin and current Carolina Hurricanes forward Jake Guentzel gets ready to make his debut against the Penguins at PPG Paints Arena tonight

In what was the biggest and probably saddest (for Penguins fans) trade of the 2024 deadline, Jake Guentzel was shipped off to Carolina. Tonight for the first time, he returns to PPG Paints Arena, wearing red and black instead of black and gold.

The biggest acquisition the Penguins received for Jake was Michael Bunting who is performing well for his new club. Bunting has six points in nine games. Guentzel is proving the 'it must be Crosby' doubters wrong, as he currently has 2 goals and 12 points with Carolina in eight games.

To give some more perspective of what Guentzel means to a team, the Penguins are 2-6-1 after the trade, while Carolina is on a 6-1-1 tear.

Jake Guentzel said that he knows it will be an emotional game returning to Pittsburgh.

My guess is that Penguins fans will give Jake Guentzel the standing ovation that he deserves. The Penguins are sure to play a video tribute to one of the best players in recent years for the Penguins.
