Another day, another overtime loss for the Pittsburgh Penguins in what was arguably the most important game of the season versus the surging Toronto Maple Leafs. Unfortunately, their powerplay and overtime performances have yet to improve since the beginning of the season.

The Penguins needed that one last night, with them sitting one point off a wild card spot just behind the Detroit Red Wings, it seemed like it was all but impossible in overtime versus the Leafs. Sullivan went off the board with his selection in overtime as he set Drew O'Connor and Lars Eller as his forwards on the ice. Bold take when Evgeni Malkin was sitting on the bench while he has been great recently.

With their loss yesterday, the Pittsburgh Penguins are currently 3-9 in overtime, meaning they have lost a total of nine points this season because of their disastrous play in OT. Imagine if the Penguins just got half of that, 4 out of 9 points, they would've been comfortably sitting at the wildcard two spot.

A team that is supposed to be competing for the playoffs, currently sits 31st in the league for the worst power plays. This is tragic, especially with the acquisition of Erik Karlsson in August who was meant to solve their power play miseries.

With four games left this season, the clock is ticking in the Steel City, and their powerplay is in desperate need of production.
