Penguins Head Coach Sends A Warning To His Team

For tonight's game head coach Mike Sullivan had a particular area of the game that he thinks could be the difference. According to Sullivan shutting down the Red Wings in transition is the key to stopping their offense.

This is another team we're playing today that has a pretty dynamic transition game, and we just have to make sure that we don't feed it," said Sullivan before facing the Detroit Red Wings on Sunday.

The Penguins are hanging on by a thread to their playoff hopes and tonight's game was one of the biggest tests of the season.

Penguins Heed Coach Sullivan's Advice And Shut Down The Red Wings

The Penguins must have taken Mike Sullivan's warning to heart tonight because once the puck was dropped they dominated.

After early goals scored by Reilly Smith for the Penguins and Lucas Raymond of the Red Wings, the Penguins would take control. Sidney Crosby would get his 33rd goal of the season which would end up being the game-winner. Contributions from young forward Valtteri Puustinen and new arrival Michael Bunting would seal the deal.

As the season continues down the home stretch the Penguins will need to continue racking up as many points as possible to stay within striking distance.
