Pittsburgh Penguins forward Michael Bunting will play tonight against the Rangers after leaving the game ill against the Blue Jackets

It was a dramatic loss for the Penguins to start their four game road trip when they fell to the Columbus Blue Jackets in a shootout lose 4-3. During that game Michael Bunting left early and we later found out it was due to illness.

It is looking like this was a temporary issue for Bunting who was seemingly just dealing with stomach issues. He was back on the ice in New York for the morning skate.

Bunting was seen practicing in his usual line and spot on the powerplay.

When asked about how he was doing, Bunting told reporters;

"I'll spare you the details, but I was definitely under the weather, for sure."

Bunting has filled in the forward spot pretty well after being a part of the deal that sent Jake Guentzel to Carolina. In 12 games as a Penguin Bunting has seven total points (3G, 4A).

The Penguins have three more games on the road, and getting Bunting back should only help their chances against the Rangers.

With just nine more goals, and a recent road record where the Penguins have lost 9 straight games away from PPG Paints Arena, the playoff chances are looking very slim. It will take a big run for them to get into the playoffs, and help from other teams.

Faceoff at MSG tonight is set for 7pm.
