Jeff Carter is hoping to make history tonight when the Penguins faceoff against the Metropolitan leading New York Rangers

As the Penguins look to take on a tough challenge tonight against the top team in the Metro, Carter is looking to pitch in and help get a win while making history.

If Carter is able to score a goal tonight, that will give him 10 on the season and make this his 19th season in the NHL with at least 10 goals per season. That will put Carter as only the 25th NHL player in history to accomplish that goal.

With some history on the line for Carter, there is also more at stake for the Penguins team as a whole.

The Penguins have just nine games remaining on the schedule, and look to end on a strong note. The Pens are also still not out of the playoff race, so a win tonight is critical.

One big concern is their play at Madison Square Garden. The Penguins have been winless since 2022 at MSG, with zero points in the last 4 games. The Rangers have been a difficult team for the Penguins to play against since that time. A win tonight could do a lot for moral as well as provide much needed points.

The New York Rangers Alexis Lafreniere is finally living up to his expectations as the first-round pick in the 2020 draft. He has 25 goals this year, and 52 points for the Rangers. The Penguins will have a tough time dealing with this young star.

Tonight's faceoff is scheduled at 7pm EST in New York as the Penguins face the Rangers.
