Kyle Dubas has remained pretty silence on his course for the team. We are hoping to find out more today as he holds his press conference shortly.
Insider Reveals Penguins Ready to Discuss Trade with Just About Anyone on the Team
A report by TSN's Pierre LeBrun has indicated that Dubas is will to listen to trade discussions for everyone on the team, with the exception of the 'core guys'. Now the speculation continues about who those core guys might be.
It is fair to assume the core guys are definitely Sidney Crosby, Evgeni Malkin and Kris Letang. They have been since 2007. But there could be some others that are considered core guys.
Others That Can Be Considered Keepers on the Team Include Rust and Karlsson
Erik Karlsson for example, and the investment they made in him could have him listed as a mainstay. They gave up a first-round pick and are talking on $10 million for his cap hit. That could speak long term.

Bryan Rust could also be someone talked about as a core player. He is a consistent player for the team with 20 goals and 50 points over the last 5 years and is good on the power play and penalty kill.
Marcus Pettersson also falls into the category with Rust. His proficiency on the blue line where the Penguins need him most is important for them to keep.
Normally one would consider Jake Guentzel to be a core guy on the team. But with his contract up in the air, Guentzel will have all eyes from around the league on him.
With Dubas reportedly ready to discuss how the next few days will play out for the Penguins, we will find out who is an expendable commodity on the team.
