The Pittsburgh Penguins were once thought to be out of playoff contention all together for the second year in a row. A win over the San Jose Sharks and a Islander lose seemed to change those odds a little bit.
Penguins Are Just Five Points Out Of A Wild Card Spot After The Win Last Night
The Penguins are only five points out of the playoffs as of today with 17 games left to play. Head Coach Mike Sullivan was asked about the Penguins chances after the win last night.
"We just got to keep fighting, control that one game in front of us, and see where it takes us. We got some help tonight from the league, and we're that much closer we just got to stay with it."

The win against the Sharks was more critical than expected, the Penguins still have that shot to make the playoffs. It is a one win at a time outlook for the team.
Sullivan Says With The Parity In The League The Penguins Need To Just Stay In The Hunt And Control What They Can
As Mike Sullivan continued, there is really only one thing the Penguins can control.
«There's more parity in the league than there's ever been and I think the standings are evidence of that.
We've got to keep fighting, we've got to stay in the race, stay in the hunt. Control what we can & let's see where this thing goes.»
