Pittsburgh Penguins captain Sidney Crosby is the NHL second star of the week

The Penguins as a team have been on a roll, largely in part to the play of the captain Sidney Crosby. Crosby was named the NHL second star of the week.

Crosby over the span of the week had 5 goals in 4 games. This helped the team extend their point streak to 8 games (6-0-2). Over this span Crosby also achieved major career and league milestones. In the 5-2 victory over the Rangers, Crosby was able to secure his 19th season with a point-per-game average. He tied the only other player to accomplish this, Wayne Gretzky.

Then after the goal against the Tampa Bay Lightning where the Penguins were victorious by a score of 5-4, he became the seventh player ever to record a 40 goal season at age 36 or higher.

Crosby leads the Penguins in goals at 40 and assists with 45, as well as total points with 85 on the year.

Next Crosby looks to help the Penguins secure a playoff spot, which would make the Penguins the first team ever to overcome a nine-point deficit in its final 11 games to reach the Stanley Cup playoffs.
