Pittsburgh Penguins need a lot of help to make the playoffs and Evgeni Malkin has been on a tear recently at the perfect time to help make this push

The Penguins are on a four game win streak and points in their last 7 games, at the perfect time of the year. With other teams starting to get cold, the Penguins stay hot. They could not only get the final wild card spot, but also the third spot in the metropolitan is still within reach.

The Penguins head north to play Toronto and Malkin is getting hot at the right time. Malkin scored both his 24th and 25th goal of the season against the Lightning, hitting that mark for the 12th time in his career. The line with Malkin, Bunting and Rakell seems to be meshing together perfectly. If Malkin can continue to stay on a roll, it could help the Penguins clinch a playoff spot.

The Penguins will need to keep the red hot Austin Matthews in check. He has 64 goals this year in 77 games and can likely hit the 70 goal marker with the way he plays. The Pens will need to keep him under control to help secure a victory.

In the special teams department, the Pens penalty kill has been in the top 10 of the league stopping 81% of powerplay opportunities. The Maple Leafs though have an impressive 24.3% conversion rate on the PP. This could be a key to the game to watch.

The Pens and Leafs faceoff at Scotiabank Arena for a 7pm faceoff.
