There has been a lot of talk about trades in the recent weeks. Especially when it comes to Jake Guentzel. The Oilers have shown interest, but his asking price may be too high for them.
New Rumors Have Emerged that Could Send an Oiler to the Penguins
Now with a week before the trade deadline, there was new rumors around a Pittsburgh/Edmonton trade. But this time, it is an Oilers player to Pittsburgh.
According to Dan Kingerski of Pittsburgh Hockey Now, the Oilers are looking for a blue line upgrade, which could potentially result in one of their defensemen being on the trading block.
Kingerski hinted at this player being Cody Ceci, and the team, being the Penguins.
«If they make Cody Ceci available, I know one team that should be on the phone»
There's some talk of the Oilers shopping for a RHD upgrade.

Former Penguins Cody Ceci Has Both Familiarity with the Team and Kyle Dubas
Ceci played with Pittsburgh in 2020-21 before getting signed by Edmonton. He has also played under Kyle Dubas in Toronto.
He has one-year left on his 4-year deal with Edmonton. This year he is earning $4.5 million, next year it will be $3.5 million. He has no clauses or long-term commitments in his contract so moving Ceci can help Edmonton free up some cap room for a big trade come March 8th.
Ceci Could Be Part of a Larger Deal Before the Trade Deadline to Bring Guentzel to Edmonton
Some NHL analysts believe Ceci could be a part of a large deal that helps bring Guentzel to Edmonton. But we learned earlier this week the Penguins want multiple first-round picks (or one first rounder with prospects or roster players) to make a deal happen.
With Calgary moving Chris Tanev, if Ceci does become available, it is likely that the Penguins may not be the only team interested in his services.
