Winter Classic : The NHL just announced who will play the event in 2024 and it matches the rumors
The 2023 Winter Classic is being played today at Fenway Park, where the Bruins are hosting the Pens for the event. The NHL is not losing a minute and already announced who will play the 2024 edition and where. It is not too surprising, as it matches many rumors that we overheard in the last weeks :
The league faces criticism because of the fact that these are two really young team with no historic background, and that many other franchises have been there for longer and they deserve a chance to play the infamous event.
However, let's be realistic. The NHL is a business, and money-wise, Seattle and Las Vegas have been straight success, with both teams among the top when it comes to live game attendance. The hockey culture is growing really fast in these two cities, and a Winter Classic opposing them is going to be fun as well as profitable for the league!
