Overtime loss: Sullivan and Malkin speak on him being blamed for the winning goal
The Pens played a decent game yesterday... until the overtime period started. Many says Malkin is responsible: he tried applying pressure on Jacob Slavin, who just skated away, leading to a 3 on 2 for the Canes, who made a beautiful play out of the occasion:
After the game, Malkin didn't try to tuck his mistake under the rug, here's what he had to say about it:
«Two lessons learned for me, and next time (I need to) play better,» Malkin said. «But it's my mistake, 100%. I respect that.»
Sullivan also had a few words to say about it:
«You just can't chase behind the net. If you chase behind the net, it's an automatic three-on-two the other way,» Sullivan said. «And it's an important detail, and we need more discipline in that area.»
Although it was a bad play, the fact Malkin takes accountability for it is a very good leadership example: knowing when you fail and not being ashamed of it is a very good attitude.
