Following an extended period of consideration, the IIHF has finally made a decisive move to enhance player safety.

IIHF Implements Mandatory Neck Guards in World Junior Championship

Darren Dreger recently announced that the International Ice Hockey Federation has instituted a policy making neck guards obligatory for athletes in both the World Junior Championship and the U-18 tournaments.


"The @IIHFHockey has agreed to make neck protection mandatory for the World Junior Hockey championship and the Men's U18 championship. A final decision still has to be made on the Men's and Women's World Hockey Championships."


This move marks a significant breakthrough in the field of hockey safety, hopefully setting a precedent for other sports federation to protect their players.
