It could've been worse, some might say after the Pittsburgh Penguins lost to the Toronto Maple Leafs last night in overtime fashion. Despite the loss, that point may have genuinely saved their season and playoff aspirations.

The Pittsburgh Penguins lost to the Toronto Maple Leafs on Monday night thanks to a Jake McCabe overtime winner. Thankfully, the Penguins may be glad to get the losing point as it helps them continue their pursuit towards the playoffs.

It's a bloodbath in the Eastern Conference, with the Penguins receiving a huge point leaving them in a tiebreaker with the Detroit Red Wings with 84 points, tied in the second wildcard position. With the Philadelphia Flyers getting dismantled by the defeated Montreal Canadiens, it seems like one team has fallen out of the race. There is one spot left amongst three teams, the Detroit Red Wings, the Pittsburgh Penguins and the Washington Capitals.

The Penguins are preparing themselves for what may be their most crucial game of their season, a make or break versus the Detroit Red Wings on Thursday April 11th. A Pittsburgh win can increase their odds drastically.

Currently, according to moneypuck.com, the Penguins have a 38% chance at making the post-season.

Thursday's contest will be their third meeting this season, the two teams have split the record of 1-1 this season. It will most certainly be a must watch!
