The Next Igor Shesterkin May Already be in the Penguins Organization

A full circle moment between russian prospect of the Penguins Sergei Murashov who currently has a record of 24-4-5 .930 SV% 2.03 GAA 4 SO and a whooping 8 assists is now being compared to current NHL goalie and superstar.

Murashov, was drafted in the 118th pick in his respected draft, just like Vezina winner Igor Shesterkin who also got drafted at 118th overall. The Russian prospect was drafted back in 2022 and since then has been developing in the MHL with Yaroslavi Lokomotiv.




The Penguins have a decent projection down the line between the pipes with Tristan Jarry who is having a career year, Joel Blomqvist who is developing in the Penguins farm system, and now Sergei Murashov who appears to be a diamond in the rough out of the 4th round!

Goalies are very hard to predict when it comes to ranking them, we have seen studs out of the 7th round such as Devon Levi from the Buffalo Sabres, at the end of the day it is a hit or miss, but risk free when it comes to drafting a goaltender in the 4th round and is currently thriving!
