Pittsburgh Named a Potential Destination for Young Maple Leafs Forward

Another Young Forward Could be Added into the Mix in Pittsburgh

In the last week, Kyle Dubas has been seemingly attempting to inject some youth into the lineup. He recently traded for Emil Benstrom and stated in a media address that he knew the team needed to get younger.


A recent article by the Hockey Writers claims that Nick Robertson could be a potential target for Kyle Dubas and the Penguins. Robertson was a highly touted prospect and has played well in Toronto this year, but the fit has never quite been there. It reasonable to assume that the Leafs will be trying to load up a bit for a long playoff run, and Robertson could find himself on the outside looking in once the playoffs are underway.





Robertson is a bit of a project for the Penguins, but the 22 year old has shown significant talent and may be aligned well with the Penguins new plan to get younger and faster.

We know that Dubas likes to deal with players he is familiar with, so the potential deal would make sense, and the price would likely be manageable for the Pens.

Through 39 contests this year, Robertson has 19 points and could help bring some life to the Penguins depth. The contract wouldn't be an issue right now, however Robertson's ELC will expire this summer.
