The Pittsburgh Penguins can help their own playoff push with a win against the Detroit Red Wings tonight
With a win tonight in regulation or in overtime it will be the first time the Penguins this season will have an over 50% chance of making the post-season.For Detroit the situation looks much more dire. Even a win against the Penguins in regulation does not give them as good as a chance of making the playoffs as the Penguins. And a loss for Detroit in regulation will knock them back to only a 7.3% chance.

Right now, the Capitals have a 43.3% chance of the playoffs, and a regulation victory at their next game would give them a 63.08% chance.
The Islanders sit above all those still in contention with a current 83.6% chance. A win in regulation at their next game will give them a 91.62% chance at the playoffs.
The Penguins have never lost site of the goal, and have played like every game is a playoff game recently, especially over the last 9 games. Even with OT losses, they have points in each of those games.
