Penguins Goalie Joel Blomqvist named to all-rookie team

This afternoon Pittsburgh Penguins prospect goalie Joel Blomqvist was given a prestigious honor. The AHL announced that Joel Blomqvist was selected as a member of one of their All-Rookie teams.

The announcement of Joel Blomqvist's major accomplishment comes directly from the Penguins AHL team the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins.





Joel Blomqvist joins a list of several other young prospects with bright futures. What makes him unique is that Joel Blomqvist is just one of three players not selected in the first round of the NHL Draft on this year's All-Rookie team.



With his success in the AHL this year Joel Blomqvist earned his first NHL call-up earlier this month to be the backup for a game. With a good playoff run the Penguins could give Joel Blomqvist a shot at being a full time NHL goalie next season.
