The King Clancy Award has been given to an NHL player since 1988 «who best exemplifies leadership qualities on and off the ice and has made a noteworthy humanitarian contribution in his community."

Nominees for the 2024 King Clancy Memorial Trophy, as announced by the NHL, given to the player «who best exemplifies leadership qualities on and off the ice and has made a noteworthy humanitarian contribution in his community.»

Rust is a great nominee for this award. He has opened up about his own speech impediment with The Trib Live's Seth Rorabaugh but still openly gives the media time.

Rust also gives kids a chance to come to a Penguins game through the Seats of Strength initiative. The kids get VIP seats to the game and a meet and greet with Rust.

Sidney Crosby spoke very highly of his linemate in a recent interview.

"With Rusty, you know what you're getting every single night the way he works and competes. I think especially this last month stretch, or three weeks - when we needed him the most, he just found another level. I think all year he's brought it every single night, but he elevated his game especially late when we needed him. I think he should feel proud of the season he's had."

Other former Penguins who were nominated for this award this year include Nick Bjugstad (Arizona Coyotes) and Marc-Andre Fleury (Minnesota Wild).

Congratulations Bryan Rust on this prestigious nomination.
