The Pittsburgh Penguins have dealt with some tough injuries all season long, but now they've got positive news on a talented depth forward.

It was back in early March that forward Jansen Harkins suffered an injury that required surgery, with the Penguins placing him on LTIR, meaning he would be out until at least April.

While a return date is still not clear, Head Coach Mike Sullivan revealed that the 26-year old was skating for just the second time since the injury, a major step forward. In 43 games with Pittsburgh this season, Harkins has managed just 4 assists, but he has shown that his physical ability is enough to keep him in the lineup.

The Penguins claimed Harkins from the Winnipeg Jets back in early October, and while he's 26-years old, he has played in just 197, showing plenty of potential over that time as a possible full-time threat in the Penguins lineup.

While the return to the ice is positive news for Harkins, the team have just 11 games left in 2023-24, and if he wants to make the impact that guarantees him a spot on this roster next season, he will be hoping to get back on the ice for at least one or two games before this year is over.
