Marcus Pettersson is Popping Up as a Top Option on Teams Radars

As Jake Guentzel and Reilly Smith top the talks in their likelihood to be traded, as well as goalies, one defenseman who was thought to be untouchable's name is appear more often.

As David Pagnotta of the Fifth Period pointed out, it is Marcus Pettersson popping up on the radar of teams.

Aside from Guentzel, Pettersson Could Be the Number Two Guy of Interest on the Pittsburgh Roster

There was not much detail in Pagnotta's context about Pettersson, but he is a name that can fetch the Penguins some much needed return. He may even be the second biggest option Pittsburgh has to offer.

In 55 games this year, Pettersson is closing in on a career high year with 24 points (3G, 21A). His plus/minus leads the team with a 23 rating.

Pettersson has one year left on his deal after this season so he should be someone the Penguins look to kept around especially if they do try to make the playoffs this year. He has been that good for them on the blue line.
