After a few years in the minors, Stanley Cup Champion and former Penguins coach Dan Bylsma may be making his return to the NHL.

Every Pens fan that has been around for a while remembers Dan Bylsma and his excellence behind the bench for the Penguins. He lead the team to a cup in 2009 and won the Jack Adam's in 2011.

As of late, he's been the head coach of the Coachella Valley Firebirds and most recently led them to the Calder Cup final last season.

The Seattle Kraken still haven't decided the direction that they're going with their current head coach Dave Hakstol. NHL insider Elliotte recently shared his thoughts on the 32 Thoughts Podcast.

«You know what my theory is?» Friedman said. «My theory is they're thinking about Dan Bylsma.»

Another connection between the two is that Jason Botterill is the assistant GM of the Kraken and was previously a member of the Penguins front office.

«It's my opinion, it's my theory, and also there is a connection,» Friedman said. «Jason Botterill Dan Bylsma Pittsburgh Penguins.»

Although nothing is set in stone yet and this is purely speculation, the fact remains that Bylsma is an accomplished coach at the NHL level, and very reasonably could return to an NHL team, if not the Kraken - it could be another squad.

More to come.
