Should the Penguins be Buyers or Sellers at this Deadline?

The Pittsburgh Penguins have many unanswered questions regarding the future of this team. Shall they rebuild? Retool? Should they continue with their core? Many questions yet to be answered.

Pens have no choice to be buyers

The Pittsburgh Penguins sit 12th in the Eastern Conference, 6 points out of a wild card spot. They are currently on a two game losing streak during that span that cost them crucial playoff points. They have no choice to go and try and compete and be buyers at the deadline as they recently acquired Norris winner Erik Karlsson in a blockbuster trade, showing they still want to compete.

Guentzel's contract situation

We will eventually figure out the Penguins plans once they deal with Jake Guentzel. Whether they trade him , resign him, or just keep him for the playoff push we will finally get a clear answer. By trading him, you take out your teams best goalscorer and leading point getter, which should give GM Kyle Dubas a sign to start a retool in the Steel City. By resigning him, it shows that the organization wants to try and win with this current core, and potentially add at the NHL Trade Deadline.

Penguins need to figure out their situation, time is ticking.

More details to follow.
