Pittsburgh Media Member Reveals What the Pens Should do to Improve their Power Play

The Penguins Power Play This Season

It has been extremely well documented how bad the Penguins Power Play has been this season. With multiple stretches where they went 0-15+, it's evidently the biggest problem the Penguins have had this season.

Last night, the Penguins lost in a shootout to the Panthers, but to make matters worse they went 1-8 on the PP. With that many opportunities you've simply just got to capitalize. If the Pens could have taken advantage of these opportunities, the game wouldn't have even needed to go past regulation.

Fans, media members and everyone else has been throwing out ideas about what should be done, yet no meaningful changes have been made.

This Media Member has an Interesting Suggestion

Dan Kingerski of Pittsburgh Hockey Now' recently shared his idea for how to fix the Pens powerplay. The quote can be found below!

Let Erik Karlsson run the show. Let him dominate it.

Karlsson's power play work with the San Jose Sharks was a driving factor in his 100-point season a year ago. He was also the captain of the ship that scored three goals on one third-period major penalty in an extraordinary 2019 playoff game against the Vegas Golden Knights that is still talked about.

He then went on to say this:

No more puck shares. No more «system» to put the puck in the hands of others, whether it be Crosby on the wall or near the net or Malkin on the mid-wall or the top of the zone.

At this point why not? Let Karlsson quarterback the PP and run everything through him. Make him focus on putting pucks on net and into traffic.

It couldn't be any worse than it already is.
