Kyle Dubas has made it known that he is looking to add a defenseman in the upcoming NHL Trade Deadline. Sources say he has an eye on his former player in Toronto Ilya Lyubushkin. With a trade like this, Is time ticking for PO Joseph in the Steel City?

Po Joseph needs to find consistency

Last season you could've included Po in the plans of the Penguins and he would have some sort of trading value to this team. He would undoubtedly fetch a 2nd round pick. Since then, injuries, healthy scratches have diminished his trade value.

With the emergence of John Ludvig, the healthy scratches may continue for the Quebec Native. The Laval Native, has 2 points in 14 games this season. He has immensely struggled considering the potential he was given.

Lyubushkin to the Pens?

The Ducks defenseman has 4 points in 42 games. The Russian native is not known for his offensive play but his steadiness in his own end which is a hot commodity for playoff contending teams. The defenceman was traded at the trade deadline in 2022 from the Arizona Coyotes to the Toronto Maple Leafs for a Nick Ritchie and a conditional 4th round pick.

The Penguins can really use a defenseman like him to provide amazing defensive play and help steal games. He was also traded this summer from the Sabres to the Ducks for a 4th round pick. A defenseman who is familiar with changing address.
