On Saturday night, the Penguins were unable to overcome the Carolina Hurricanes when they lost in OT. The team has seemed to look very poor in 3 on 3 situations and Erik Karlsson shared his thoughts following the loss.

The Penguins Well Documented Special Teams Struggles

Many speculate that Karlsson was referring to Assistant Coach Todd Rierdan who is responsible for the special teams. It doesn't make sense how a team with Crosby, Guentzel and Erik Karlsson available to play together during 3 on 3 OT would struggle so much.


Rierdan caught a lot of flack from fans earlier in the season when the Penguins went nearly a month without scoring a powerplay goal.
