It was reported that Jake Guentzel and his camp have had no discussions about re-signing with the Penguins Management as reported by David Pagnotta of the Fourth Period. Many believe negotiations will only begin after the season, if he's not dealt by March.

It's clear that in an ideal world, the Penguins would love to re-sign Jake Guentzel, but they must see where the team is positioned before the trade deadline. If they see themselves out of the playoffs, Jake Guentzel may see himself out of Pittsburgh.
