Today a new piece of information has come out suggesting that the NHL will be canceling one of their biggest event going forward. The report comes from a respected insider with knowledge of the situation.
NHL To Cancel Important Event
A new segment on Elliotte Friedman's 32 Thoughts Podcast has fans in a frenzy today. During the segment, Friedman brought up the idea that the NHL will be going away from their Awards Show in the offseason. Friedman believes the NHL will adopt the NBA-type approach presenting the awards during playoff games in front of fans.
Friedman on 32TP says he doesn't expect there to be much of an award show this year, they're talking about copying the NBA, where they award the trophy during the playoffs, either on game day or the day before, then the player gets rewarded with a big ovation in front of the fans
With this speculation, the NHL would lose out on one of its biggest events of the summer. With the NHL Draft already changing to not have as much team involvement in the venue fans are losing out on up-close experiences with players and the front office more and more.
