A recent incident during a U-10 practice involving a coach will be reviewed by Hockey Canada.

Hockey Canada to Review Incident at U-10 Practice

TSN's Rick Westhead reported that Hockey Canada will be investigating an incident that was captured on camera.

The footage in question depicts a coach slashing a young U-10 player, apparently for not adhering to instructions on positioning, a clear breach of Hockey Canada's Safe Sport policy.

"I was sent this video today, one of several that were purportedly filmed during a U10 GTHL team practice last night.

GTHL comment: The GTHL is required to report incidents it suspects may be a violation of the Hockey Canada safe sport policies to the Independent Third Party working on behalf of Hockey Canada. The league can confirm that it has filed a report regarding an incident that occurred on Nov. 29, 2023."

Hockey Canada's prompt response to this situation is commendable, given the organization's history.

As for the coach involved, actions like these are utterly unacceptable. Someone in a position of influence and guidance over young athletes should never exhibit such behavior.
