The Penguins have inked a new deal for young forward Valtteri Puustinen keeping him in the organization for two more years.

The deal with worth $775,000 annually at the NHL level.

Puustinen played in 52 games at the NHL level in 2023-24 and scored five goals and 15 assists for 20 points.

While playing in Pittsburgh Pusstinen played in the middle six role, and was able to help provide a good amount of offense for the team. Pusstinen was set to become an unrestricted free agent this summer. The Penguins saw something in him to lock him up before July 1st.

In the AHL with the WBS Penguins, he played in 24 games, scoring five goals and having a total of 13 points.

In two previous seasons with the AHL affiliate, Puustinen put up 101 points in 145 games. The Penguins feel that he has more that he can offer the team and can gain that confidence as he continues to play in the World Championships.

Now that he is locked in for two years, it will be up to him to produce and get his spot on the Pittsburgh roster.
