Pittsburgh Penguins Prospect to Battle for the WHL Championship

Pittsburgh Penguins prospect and 2023 first-round draft selection Brayden Yager is off to the WHL finals to compete for a WHL Championship. The Moose Jaw Warriors defeated the Saskatoon Blades in game seven of the WHL playoffs eastern conference finals.

One final stop before the Memorial Cup sees the Portland Winterhawks try to put a stop to the red-hot Moose Jaw Warriors and Penguins prospect Brayden Yager.

Yager has 10 goals and 11 assists for 21 points through 16 games and ranks third in goals in the WHL scoring race in the playoffs.




The Moose Jaw Warriors led late in the third period, but Saskatoon tied it up and sent game seven to overtime. This was the sixth game that needed extra time during the series.

Support from all over carried for both teams as this incredibly thrilling series wasn't over yet. A few chances for Yager were denied, but his team succeeded and beat the Blades.



Yager looks to continue his scoring dominance with the Moose Jaw Warriors to win the franchise's first WHL Championship and make their first Memorial Cup appearance.



Games one and two of the WHL Final start Friday and Saturday in Portland, the series will come back to Moose Jaw for games three and four next Tuesday and Wednesday.
