The Pittsburgh Penguins are currently battling for a playoff spot and keep slipping behind by the day as they sit 9 points out of a playoff wild card spot. It isn't the scenerio Kyle Dubas thought he would be in, after going and acquiring Norris winner Erik Karlsson in a blockbuster this summer with the San Jose Sharks.

During the recent weeks there was growing talk regarding Jake Guentzel's contract situation as he is set to be a pending UFA. As well as Dubas' plans to navigate the situation as they intended to resign him. Unfortunately, Pittsburgh received devastating news this week.

In the recent 32T podcast, it was reported by Elliotte Friedman that the star winger of the Penguins has decided to hit the market, and Dubas has allowed him and his camp to negotiate with other teams for a future contract. Oilers are expected to be massive player's for the American winger.




Although Edmonton are the favourites to land Guentzel, you can argue that the majority of contenders in the NHL will do their due diligence and call for the forward and swing an offer. Teams like Carolina, Vegas, Toronto and Dallas shouldn't be ruled out when talking about a potential Guentzel trade.
