Trade Rumor: Insider Says the Canucks Can Pull Off a Phenomenal Move for Penguin Jake Guentzel
So much has been talked about regarding Jake Guentzel and his future with the Pittsburgh Penguins. Insiders believe that the move could happen, and the team that can pull it off may just be the Vancouver Canucks.
Rick Dhaliwal, an NHL insider, recently fueled the fire some more, referencing Elliote Friedman's trade deadline plans for the Canucks. Friedman has mentioned that Guentzel would be a very good fit for Vancouver, if he does become available. It was noted by the insider that Jim Rutherford likes to make moves and pick up players.
Dhahliwal mentions in a tweet on X:
Elliotte Friedman on the #Canucks and trade deadline : Guentzel makes sense for VAN if he is made available, I can see them in on that. Rutherford likes to identify players and get them early. They are a team to watch."

Insider Pierre LeBrun Weights in on the Jake Guentzel Trade Rumors and Gives His Thoughts on the Matter
LeBrun talked about Guentzel as well, saying he is the second highest scorer on the market. The 29-year-old would be a key asset, with great and consistent playoff performances under his belt.
This puts Kyle Dubas in a difficult situation. With the Penguins teetering between making the playoffs and being on the outside looking in, should they consider signing Guentzel at the risk of the team's future? Or should they look to move him for some rental players and possible prospects?
With the Penguins being one of the oldest teams in the league, signing him has potential risks. But the Penguins are also in a win now mentality. Will they possibly sacrifice the future so the core three can get their shot at one more Cup.
